Out of State Students
Welcome to the University of Alabama. The population of out of state students is growing at a face pace and the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership has created many different ways to help students from out of state get involved on campus and in the community. Please see the resources listed below and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Josh Burford at burfo003@sa.ua.edu, or call 205-348-6114 to set up an appointment.
Interest Inventories
The Interest Inventory is simple. Fill in your contact information, and then check the items that interest you.
After you submit the form, a member of the Student Involvement & Leadership staff will contact you within 2-3 business days with helpful information about how to connect in ways that match your interests.
We look forward to hearing from you! Please contact the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership at
205-348-6114 with any questions.

SOURCE (Student Organizations)
Students are encouraged to get involved in organizations that match their interests.
Student involvement week and Get On Board Day are both excellent ways to discover organizations in which you
may want to be involved. To search the variety of student organizations that is found on the University of Alabama campus
and to obtain more information about specific organizations, please view the Student Organization Directory.
One-On-One Appointment
The professional staff of Student Involvement and Leadership is available for one of one meetings to help students
navigate multiple[le avenues of involvement. During this meeting each student will have the opportunity to develop a
plan of engagement that will take into account academic interests, professional interest, and personal interest. To set up one-on-one appointment with a Student Involvement and Leadership Staff please call 205-348-6114.
The "49"
The “49” is a new student coordinating body that is working to help connect students from out of state to opportunities
for campus/community involvement, mentoring programs, outreach for other students from out of state, and
programming to help students adjust to life in Alabama and at UA.
We are hopeful that all students from out of state will be able to participate in programs created by the “49” planning committee and that in turn these students will help increase the outreach we are doing on campus. Any students that
would like to help us out with planning, representing their states, or just participating in activities should contact Josh
in the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership at burfo003@sa.ua.edu, or by calling 205-348-6114.
