Leadership UA

Applications for Phase I will be available in March for Fall 2015 participation.

Leadership UA is a dynamic leadership initiative for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The goal of the program is to develop effective and ethical leaders at The University of Alabama who are prepared to be global leaders in a variety of fields.

As a three phase program, students have the opportunity to participate in Leadership UA throughout their time as a student. Leadership UA builds upon basic leadership skills and abilities and focuses on utilizing your individual strengths to develop you as a leader.

Phase I: Shape Your World (Offered Fall 2015)
Phase I strives to inspire and activate students to create change and lead others to make positive differences in our campus, city, and global communities. Participants will enhance their existing skills and values and learn their personal leadership style through self-exploration and discovery. Multiple tools and assessments will be utilized throughout the phase including Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and more! In addition, phase I will encourage active reflection and self-inventory to enhance each student's learning experience.

Phase II: Serve Your World (Offered Spring 2016)

Phase II of Leadership UA has a concentration in servant leadership and incorporates a number of service projects. Participants will be encouraged to listen and seek to understand the community we live in by providing service. Guided reflection will facilitate learning throughout the process. In addition to service projects, we will hear from leaders in the community who have an expertise in service-learning, non-profit management, and civic engagement.

Phase III: Lead Your World (Offered Fall 2015)

Phase III is the practical based component of Leadership UA where participants are encouraged to have a role, position, or leadership opportunity on campus or in the Tuscaloosa community. Utilizing a strengths-based approach, students will reflect on their experiences and set goals for improvement. In addition, case studies will be utilized to shed light on situational leadership and strategic methods for leading.

To be eligible for Phases II and III you must have completed the preceding phase(s).
